Presented by: Christian West / Master Grower @ The Growers Guild Gardens
For over 20 years, Christian West has specialized in cultivating high-quality, organic cannabis. In 2014, he co-founded Oregon Microgrowers Guild to pursue his passion of providing safe, clean cannabis to patients. Christian currently serves as Lead Cultivator for Growers Guild Gardens, a Tier 2 cannabis farm in Oregon. He is also co-owner of Sproutly USA, a recreational and medical dispensary in Eugene, Oregon. When he’s not caring for plants or patients, Christian educates the community on cultivation and medical applications of cannabis.
With his colleagues, Christian helps develop life-saving strains and products for patients like Leni Young. Leni and her family moved from Alabama to Oregon so she could use cannabis as medicine. Since beginning cannabis treatment with The Growers Guild team, Leni has seen a dramatic reduction in seizures – from thousands per year to just seven in 2015-2016. Her progress helped pass Leni’s Law, which gives Alabama residents access to medical cannabis with up to 3% THC.
Presented by: Jeff Greenswag / Founder @ The Cannabis Education Company
Originally drawn to Colorado to pursue a law degree, Jeff Greenswag, a 20+ year cannabis consumer was immediately drawn to the cannabis culture of Colorado. As a medical cannabis patient in 2009, Jeff founded strainsource.com, a website that served as a local Denver precursor to Leafly. Shortly after that Jeff was hired onto the business development team at The General Cannabis Corporation, a publicly traded company providing ancillary services to the industry. Within a year of obtaining this position, Jeff stumbled upon the Trichome Institute and their cannabis sommelier Interpener program. Jeff was hooked and immediately began studying the cannabis plant at a doctoral level. Certified as a level 2 Interpener Jeff was hired by the Trichome Institute as their Director of Operations and worked with Trichome for two years, developing programs like Trichome Assurance Grading and helping to take the Trichome Institute program around the country. Having provided cannabis education from Alaska to Boston, and California to New York, Jeff and the Trichome Institute were honored in 2016 by winning the Golden Pineapple for best cannabis education in the country thanks to The Cannabist. With an opportunity to bring this information back to the Midwest Jeff moved to Chicago in January 2017. While managing a medical cannabis dispensary in Chicago, Jeff founded the Cannabis Education Company and began offering his services to the people of Illinois and Michigan.
